Photo
Shoot
Take
a look at the annual program book from last year. You will see a
beautiful piece of artwork. Each routine is pictured in
the book as a memory of your classmates and individuals
demonstrating their year of accomplishments, plus candid photos
from the studio's activities and company's events. A keepsake
for all to cherish for years to come. The photo shoot takes
place late in February and the middle of March. We schedule the
shoots as costumes arrive. Children (and moms too) learn so much
during the photo shoot; how the costume is to be worn, how to
secure headpieces, how to style hair and apply theatrical
make-up. This is like a wardrobe rehearsal for the show. We took
over 8,000 photographs last season - Your child will love their
modeling job! Plan now to be a part off our Silver Anniversary
Edition. Program Book sponsor forms will be attached to your
Fall Newsletter.
2007
Dance Concert
We
have one spectacular extravaganza per year. The Dance Concert
has been held in the past at Linton Middle School in Penn Hills
and Franklin Regional School District. This year our show will
be Monday June 23 through Friday June 27, 2008. Please be a part of our
exciting Show! All Tu-Two Cute, Baby
Ballerinas and Prima Preschoolers will have one ordered
costume. The Intermediate Prima Preschoolers II and Advanced
Preschool will have two ordered costumes. All
other classes will have a Costume for each dance subject (NO
Acro/ Gym). Some Jazz and Hip Hop Classes will do one or the
other if all the children take both classes to eliminate costume
costs. A Performance Package Payment plan is the
way to go for all of our recreation students. One
easy payment per month will include your Costume, Headpiece,
Tights, Accessories or props, and your group picture fee in the
annual program book. Your first Costume Package Fee is due by November
10th, 2007! A Concert Fee will be charged instead of
purchasing tickets this season... You will receive as many
tickets as you need... this will ensure the show expenses are
met and fill the new larger auditorium with appreciative
audience members! Ask the
front desk staff about this plan!
Your
Children are a Reflection of You ~
Good Manners and Proper Etiquette are always expected.

Dance is the most beautiful of all the arts -
and dancers, the most beautiful of all the artists.
REIGN DANCE PRODUCTIONS
wants to create beauty on the inside, too!
Communication
Please
contact the front desk staff whenever the need arises. Most of
the time, the front desk staff can help you with problems that
may arise. Daytime office hours via Telephone are 11am to
12noon. If you have concerns that cannot be addressed in a
brief conversation, please set up a phone conference - we can
have your child’s teacher call you. The fee is $25 per
parent/teacher conference. We want your experience here at Reign
Dance Productions be a positive one. Sorry,
Instructors do NOT have time to talk between classes.
Class
Behavior
We
want all our students to have an enjoyable and educational dance
experience. We will treat you and your children with courtesy
and respect. We expect our students to show the same attitude
toward their teachers and fellow dancers. We request that your
children observe the following simple rules:
* Pay Attention to your teacher - Don’t talk with your friends
during class! It disrupts the whole class and makes it difficult
for the teacher to communicate with the students. Meet your
friends before or after class for social fun.
* Food or drinks are permitted in the DEN ONLY. Be careful -
spills ruin the floors and food attracts bugs. You may have
snacks in the den, but please dispose of your trash properly.
There are breaks for water during shoe changes. Leave water
bottles in the DEN.
* Do not pull up on or hang from the Ballet Barres. They can be
pulled from the wall or you can get stuck in them. Barres are
for balance and support.
*Come prepared to dance - attire, grooming, attitude,
ambition, energy!
Classroom
Etiquette
Reasonable rules and standards are provided to promote
self-discipline. Students should arrive at the school with
sufficient time to change into dance shoes to begin class on
time. Students who arrive 10 minutes after the scheduled class
time are welcome to observe the class; however, they will not be
permitted to participate unless there is an extenuating
circumstance. If students need to leave before the end of the
class, they should notify the teacher before class begins.
Students may not leave the classroom without first receiving
permission from the teacher. As employees of REIGN DANCE
PRODUCTIONS, teachers have the responsibility to see that their
class is under control, and they have the authority to dismiss
any student who will not cooperate and is a disruption to the
rest of the class. Inappropriate dress or behavior will not be
allowed. No gum, food or drinks will be permitted inside the
classrooms during class or rehearsal.
Class
Placement
We
try to place students in the best, most challenging and
appropriate class. sometimes the teacher will determine that a
student needs placement in a more advanced or less advanced
class or simply a smaller or younger or bigger or older class
than originally assigned. This is not done without careful
consideration. Remember you are paying us to teach your child to
dance. You entrusted your children with us because we know what
is best for them concerning their dance education. Children are
our business. We are the experts, defining each dancer by their
work ethic, potential, ability to comprehend quickly, natural
body lines and maturity in applying corrections. Each
child should aspire to be in the next level! Should your child
come home disappointed with their placement, it is your
responsibility as a parent to remind them that hard work yields
improvement. They should work harder than ever and prove to the
teacher they deserve to be moved!
Beginning
Pointe Work... Pointe is the most demanding dance genre.
A student may have the desire to do pointe work, but the
determination of readiness for pointe must come from careful
observation by your daughter’s teacher. Recreation Students
are often put on pointe for a 15 minute period once per week to
learn what strength and skill is needed. We would like them to
become more serious students and this often is the incentive
they need. Competitive/ Advanced students are put on pointe for
longer periods of time which require your daughter to be in
two ballet classes per week for pointe work.
It is important for parents and students to understand that
dance class is not the same as your grade in school. Nor do you
dance from 8am to 3pm Mon through Friday. In most cases the
class will progress as a group but, not all the time.
Every child will be challenged in each class to compete against
themselves not others.
Changing
classes
Notify
the front desk staff immediately if you are changing the day and
time of your class. You are charged as an active student until
you notify the office of a change in status. Students are
welcome to add classes, level permitting - just inform the front
desk. Class changes must have the permission of all teachers
involved. This applies to ALDC members as well as recreation
students! This is especially important when we are ordering
costumes and preparing dances for the annual dance concert. You
are responsible for payment in full September through June. All
MLDS recreation students wishing to change classes or drop a
particular subject must do so in writing or you will be
responsible for payment in full for the entire term.
Conventions,
Performances, and Other Activities
During the year, many of our students have opportunities to
participate in activities such as master classes, community
performances and even trips to New York City. We encourage all
students to take advantage of these opportunities. Information
including costs and entry fees etc. will be provided in advance
of each event. All fees must be paid in advance of said event.
Competition Eligibility
Students interested in competitive dance study may
audition for THE ABBY LEE DANCE COMPANY. Celebrating 26 years of
victorious success this season. We host open auditions near the
end of our season before the annual dance concert and again,
during August. This year we are seeking 5, 6, and 7 year
olds for the Tiny Tots. All dancers must be enrolled in
the complete program for their age/ability level to be eligible
for the dance company. Usually competition and special
choreography takes place on the weekends. Only Graduating
Seniors with 5 years seniority may retain their ALDC status and
lesson their class load. Some advanced students may take
Company Level classes with teacher approval. Solo, Duet and Trio
choreography is available for interested as well as, committed
students. Dancers must study (enrolled, attending and paid in
full) four days per week to be considered for a Specialty
Routine. There are many additional requirements, a list is
available upon request.

during the winter. Cover ups must be worn to and from class.
